SILENCE!

I tried running without music today and it will never happen again! I admit, it was not by choice. The battery on my phone was low and everyone knows, if your run is not recorded on Strava (or other running app), then it didn't happen. So I sacrificed my music to save some battery life. Today I learnt that the sound of my heavy breathing and the occasional bird chirping is NOT enough to keep me going on a run. Even a short 5k.  I had nothing to click my fingers to, nothing to sing along with (yes, out loud), No Britney or Rag 'n' bone man (I can be cool...), to pull on my heart strings and push me along.  I run for the emotion, the beat, the cheese, the memories. It is what makes my runs mine.  So from now on, my phone will be fully charged before I set out. I will not make that mistake EVER again.  SILENCE is not golden when running!  In fact, just writing SILENCE is making me want to listen to 'Moulin Rouge: Roxanne.'  If you hear someone wheezing and spu...

My turn, my turn!

Do you ever get running envy? You see someone out running and wish you could join in too? This happened to me today, actually it happens quite a lot, but today more so because it was THE LONDON MARATHON! I got back from my steady 5k after seeing a few runners along the seafront with their numbers on doing their own virtual London marathon (I shouted at really loudly to each person as I passed them @GO ON, GOOD LUCK!!) and put on the coverage on the TV and I was GREEEEENNNNNEEEE with envy!  I saw thousands flooding the streets, pounding the pavements and I felt all of the excitement and I wanted to be there soooo bad, so I have entered myself into the ballot for 2022! I had entered for this year and was unsuccessful so here is to try number 2.  I am also going to apply to run for Mind with a charity place which is a cause close to my heart, so fingers crossed either way, in fact I think id rather the charity place because championing mental health is so incredibly important....

Pain

After feeling sorry for myself last week and having a run break (due to a couple of hangovers...), I'm getting back into it. Although my body is punishing me for it and causing me aches and pains I haven't felt in a long time!  Lockdown is lifting slowly, the future looks brighter again, the nights are getting lighter and everything feels a bit more positive again.  Hold on, keep running.
